Getting With The Program

Bringing you an [array] of insight along my coding journey.

My CLI Data Gem Project

I was very nervous to begin this project, as this was the first time that I wouldn’t have the files and specs generated from the Learn environment. However, I was also very excited to build a program from scratch.

Programming Tic Tac Toe With AI

After about 6 screen shares with the wonderful technical coaches here and one long night of swearing my future children will never learn to play the game, I have finally finished my ‘Tic Tac Toe with AI’ lab and it feels good.

Class Variables vs. Instance Variables (my errand metaphor)

In order to wrap my mind around object orientation, I have been thinking a lot about programming in terms of metaphors. This has been particularly helpful when trying to distinguish between class variables and instance variables.

Getting Specific with CSS Selectors

Maybe a lot has changed in the past few years (probably not), or maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention in my college web development class (probably), but I don’t remember being able to get so specific with my CSS selectors - and well, it’s pretty cool.

Marketing, Botany, and Other Viable Options

I took a career aptitude test in high school. My top two results were botanist and screen writer. All I knew about botany was what Mr. Belding taught his class about pruning Bonsai trees. Screen writing just didn’t seem like a good fit.
